About Us

A Child's Dream Come True has been joyfully serving families, crafters and schools since 1989. We're family owned and operated and located in the northern Rockies of Idaho. Coming from an extensive background in woodworking, handwork and crafts I and my husband Bob share with you our love for natural materials and working with one's hands. We are parents of two and grandparents to one.

The original founder of A Child's Dream, Waldorf Early Childhood Educator Ronna McEldowney, and I became acquainted in the early 1990s. I ordered handwork supplies from her catalog and consulted with her about the Waldorf-inspired playgroup I was a part of when my youngest was 4. Our family was living in southern California and it was during that time we began making weaving kits for A Child's Dream catalog.

I had already shared with Ronna our desire to move to a community where there was a Waldorf school. She shared that she had visited and spoke with a group of interested parents in Sandpoint, Idaho. She encouraged us to visit as well. We did and two months later we moved to Sandpoint and became one of several founding families of the Sandpoint Waldorf School which our children attended.

Bob and I continued supplying A Child's Dream, as well as Waldorf school stores and other catalog businesses, with several different kits. We purchased the business in 1999 from the second owner, also a Waldorf teacher. Our youngest was 12 at the time.

In 2000 we put the catalog online. Since then, we have added a full line of fiber art supplies, expanded the selection of wool felt and doll making materials and opened a store. We continue to take our inspiration from Waldorf education as we grow to meet the demands for natural art supplies and high quality natural materials for toy making, doll making and crafts.
